Student Testimonials
I am Student Nurse Paramedic. When I first started this placement, I was very uncomfortable in this environment (This was because it was my first MH placement, and it was a very different setting than what I’m used to). I was also very apprehensive about the skills that I would achieve here as I thought there was not much to learn. I was wrong!! I told Team leader Marie and manager Derek and my worries and issues, straight away and they reassured me. We sat down and they helped me come up with a plan of what I wanted to achieve and how I would do this. After this I felt more confident and assured that I will achieve several skills. Derek was very present in the home, and I felt comfortable to ask him anything I was unsure on. I attend the community centre and thought this was brilliant

I loved my time spent at this placement, I believe that I was given the tools and time to develop my knowledge around mental health, I was offered opportunities to attend training sessions and to bond the with staff and the residents. Here I felt part of a team rather than like a student, I think that is testament to how much time and care that is put into accommodating students at the home. Thank you to Derek, Gina, the staff, and the residents for making this such a fantastic and valuable experience for me, I will never forget it

I found attending this placement was a valuable learning experience that gave me exposure to different types of mental and physical health conditions. The service users were kind and shared their experiences with me. The staff were very helpful and had a vast amount of experience that they were happy to share with myself and another student. I thoroughly enjoyed spending time on this placement
